DRI Boundary Area
The City of Poughkeepsie has identified a strategically significant target area for DRI funding, one that stretches from the Poughkeepsie Train Station on lower Main Street eastward to the vibrant new Art Effect Building on North Cherry Street. Generally bordered on the north and south by the east-west arterials (Routes 44 & 55), this DRI zone is both compact and walkable while encompassing the newly formed Business Improvement District (BID), two opportunity zones, and many exciting options for new investment. The downtown corridor serves as the civic, commercial, entertainment, and transportation heart for Dutchess County and much of the Mid-Hudson Valley. This critical zone not only serves the nearly 77,000 residents living in the City and Town of Poughkeepsie, but hundreds of thousands from beyond our municipal borders, including numerous commuters who converge on the Poughkeepsie Metro North Station daily.
The DRI program aims to have a DRI boundary area that is concentrated, walkable, and may range from a corridor to a few blocks. In addition, this area defines the eligible project areas for DRI funding.
